Time and investment can be saved by using drag reduction technology and replacing large displacement centrifugal oil pump. China began to study drag reduction technology in the 1970s. The imported drag-reducing additive has obtained good test results in related projects.

Research and application of drag reduction technology in foreign countries

Before the 1960s, people mainly focused on the drag reduction of aqueous solutions. Many polymers with remarkable drag reduction effect in aqueous solution were synthesized. Such as polyacrylamide (PAM), polyethylene oxide (PEO), etc. These polymer drag reducers are widely used in the industry.

In the 1970s, China first studied the synthesis of water-soluble drag reducer and discussed the mechanism of drag reduction. High-efficiency drag-reducing agents such as PEO for water-soluble media have been synthesized.

At the beginning of 1980, Zhejiang University of China began to develop an oil-soluble drag reducer. In 1984, a polymer was synthesized by copolymerization of ethylene and propylene. The drag reduction effect of this kind of drag-reducing agent reaches 30% under laboratory conditions.

In the same year, China developed a drag-reducing agent mainly composed of advanced polymethacrylate. The drag reduction effect is 31%. In 1985, another type of drag reducer was developed by copolymerization of α – olefin with ethylene. The drag reduction effect is also improved.
